How do you know someone is depressed?

In a situation where a depressed person refused to tell others of their condition, how does an outsider know? What are the signs that can help?

It can really be a tough one to figure out. Sometimes we mix it up and think it’s about a person being moody all the time. But a depressed person can as well be hiding behind smiles and laugh.

Exactly. Some of them are very good at masking their emotions that you wouldn't know there is something wrong somewhere.

I have experienced it many times to know the real people that are depressed. Most times it is not the people that we even think of at all, and you will just be surprised.

If everything about life doesn't interest the person, it's a clear sign or signal the person is suffering from depression. It's what leads some of them to being suicidial.

They mostly prefer to stay alone than be in the company of people. They do not say much too.
While this is true to a certain extent, it is not always the case. You will see people all laughing and relating with people most of the time but are are battling with chronic depression.
