Personally, I'm speaking as a lady vs man hitting on me, because that's the biological gender that I am. I don't have experience with women hitting on me. So man will : give your freebies, buy you expensive and feminine gifts, stutter at your appearance, attempt to strike a conversation with you at all costs, speak in your native language if you're not White.

All these things that you have mentioned are normal things men do for their friends. They don't have to be looking to start a romantic relationship without you before doing that but it doesn't mean some won't use the same strategy.
