Misunderstandings from Men?

People these days just don't ask people out anymore, they just assume you are their girlfriend/boyfriend. 2 men from my group therapies have assumed that they were in a relationship with me and one of them has thought me to be in love with him. I think people are just too shy to ask someone else out nowadays, and just assume because you've gone out with them a couple of times or exchanged numbers, social media, that you are in a relationship with them. I understand that it's nerve-cracking to be rejected but asking someone out should be the first step to a normal relationship, not just you're assuming they're in love with you.

I always define my relationship with anybody. I can't be your friend and you are assuming that we are dating. The first is to define your relationship before it became a burden to both parties or even allowing one person to be assuming that there's no relationship.
