Can lack of sleep cause depression?

I have been suffering from lack of sleep for weeks now and it's making me feel uncomfortable. I don't want anything that will make me start having depression.

I don't know if having less sleep at night for a long time will cause someone depression?

Yes I believe lack of sleep can cause depression. The period one is awake can lead to different thoughts creeping in, which can serve as a trigger for the feelings of depression.

When you do not sleep on time, you can end up having feelings and thoughts you need not have. Being awake when everyone is sleeping opens you to a rather negative side of the world

It is going to be very difficult for your mind and your soul to be at peace if you are not sleeping. This is something that is very damaging to someone's health generally and it can cause depression.

Sleep is very important and it cannot be underestimated. I have seen what can happen of one does not sleep well for two days straight. It can really trigger depression.
